Conversation at the exhibition On The Edge of Change with Lithuanian artists, Vaiva Kovieraitė Trumpė and Marta Vosyliūtė on Saturday, 29 July, at 12 PM.
Contemporary exhibition of Baltic graphic arts, On the Edge of Change, in exhibition hall Riga Art Space is the main event of the Printmaking IN festival. This year, Lithuania is represented by four artists. Two of them may be met in Riga Art Space on Saturday for an exclusive artist talk to get to know more about their works exhibited there.
Vaiva Kovieraitė Trumpė participates with her series “The Other Places. Cataclysms” which is done in mixed media technique. Such a mix of methods is typical of the artist. This choice of hers creates specific aesthetics and atmosphere of a seeming accident. Her works are characterized by fine nuances of color, delicate compositions and emotionally or socio-critically charged content.Kovieraitė Trumpė comes from the town of Šiauliai in Lithuania. Once a student of printmaking arts, she is now an active participant in various art projects all over the world, including exhibitions and solo shows.
The second artist, Marta Vosyliūtė presents her work which was specifically created for the exhibition, taking into account its leitmotif. It has been done in an unusual combination of materials – a mirror, drawing and digital print. The artist’s style is characterized by a rebellious excitement and positive humor. Vosyliūtė comes from Vilnius, Lithuania, and she works in the fields of painting, printmaking and animation. She is an active participant in exhibitions and has held several solo shows, as well as worked as a curator. In 2019, gallery room9 hosted her solo show Drunk Shrimp and Other Stories. She has done stage design for over 30 theater and dance performances. She also writes about various topics of culture and participates in conferences.
