Drawing inspiration from the iconic song by The Stranglers, Always the sun does not focus on the sun as motif, but approaches it as a medium of thought, perception, and lived experience.
The exhibition aspires to bring together contemporary Greek artists whose practices have been shaped – consciously or otherwise – by the specific conditions of Southern light, weather, and outdoor life. It is not an exhibition about the sun. Rather, it asks: how do certain climates create certain cultures? What does it mean to live under intense exposure – geographically, culturally, ecologically?
